Reinforced putty gypsum Gs-10 is a dry prefabricated gypsum mixture intended for self-preparation immediately before use by mixing with water.
Destiny
The product is designed for connecting plasterboard without reinforcing tape. It is also used to repair cracked plasters, fill cavities, furrows and cracks in mineral surfaces.
Contraindications
The product should not be used on metals, glass and plastics. It is also not advisable to apply it to wet substrates, subject to biological corrosion and those in which the bonding processes of other mineral binders have not ended. It is not recommended to use the product in places subject to constant moisture and in rooms where the air humidity permanently exceeds 70%. Periodic increased humidity in kitchens and bathrooms is not harmful.
Properties
- White
- The binding time, i.e. the shelf life from the moment of mixing with water, depends on the ambient temperature and the amount of water used to make the mortar. At +20°C and with a water-to-binder ratio of 1:2.5, the binding time is about 45 min. Lower temperatures and more water increase the time, while higher temperatures and less water reduce binding time. At temperatures below +5°C, the bonding reaction almost completely ceases.
- The open time of work, that is, the possibility of leveling and correcting the mortar applied to the substrate depends on the absorbency of the substrate and the thickness of the applied layer. In the case of a multi-millimeter layer applied to a non-absorbing substrate, the open working time is extended practically until the binding reaction starts. Drying time
- The drying time of the bound product depends on the thickness of the layer, the ambient temperature and the airing conditions. When the layer of Putty gypsum is a few millimeters and the ambient temperature is low, the drying time can be up to a few days. In extreme cases, in the absence of ventilation and high humidity, gypsum does not dry out at all.
- Strength - The putty gypsum layer achieves full strength and adhesion only after the proper completion of the binding process and complete drying of the mortar. Before it dries it can be soft and give the impression of not fully connected. Like all gypsum binders, the bound mortar, but still wet, has about 30% of the strength achieved after drying.
